Signing of a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation on Manuscripts and Heritage
On Tuesday, 29 September 2026, a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation was signed between the Sheikh Al-Taher Al-Zawi Center for Studies, Research and Heritage Manuscript Verification – Tripoli, Libya, and the Manuscripts House / Sultan Ahmed Waqf – Istanbul, Türkiye.
The agreement was signed on behalf of the Sheikh Al-Taher Al-Zawi Center by Dr. Salah Al-Shaab, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors, and on behalf of the Manuscripts House / Sultan Ahmed Waqf by Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Masri, Director General.
The agreement aims to strengthen scientific and cultural cooperation between the two institutions in the fields of manuscripts and Arab and Islamic heritage, including the collection, preservation and conservation, digitization, imaging, cataloguing, and accessibility of manuscripts.
It also provides for cooperation in the study and publication of heritage texts, the exchange of manuscript databases and reproductions in accordance with applicable laws and regulations, and the organization of conferences, seminars, workshops, training courses and lectures.
Through this agreement, both institutions seek to exchange expertise and knowledge and to develop joint initiatives that contribute to the preservation, documentation, study and wider accessibility of Arab and Islamic written heritage.
