Sheikh Tahir Al-Zawi Center Visits the Center of Islamic Studies in Kairouan to Explore Avenues of Joint Cooperation

In a continuous effort to foster scientific and academic dialogue and broaden the horizons of joint cooperation between research institutions, the Sheikh Tahir Al-Zawi Center for Studies, Research, and Heritage Verification paid an official visit to the Center of Islamic Studies in Kairouan, an affiliate of Ez-Zitouna University in the Republic of Tunisia.

The Sheikh Tahir Al-Zawi Center was represented by Dr. Ismail Karima, Chairman of the Board of Directors, accompanied by Dr. Salah Al-Shaab, Vice Chairman of the Board.

The visiting delegation was warmly received by Dr. Al-Bashir Abdellaoui, Head of the Center of Islamic Studies in Kairouan. The reception was attended by a distinguished group of the center’s academic and scientific experts, prominently featuring Dr. Khaled Al-Taroudi and Dr. Mohamed Al-Habib Al-Allani.

This visit primarily aimed to explore avenues of scientific cooperation between the two centers. It also sought to discuss mechanisms for joint action in the fields of academic research, the verification of manuscripts, and the preservation of Islamic heritage, strictly within the areas of expertise of both institutions.

Discussions between the two sides touched upon the mutual exchange of expertise and publications, as well as the potential for organizing joint scientific symposiums and conferences. Such initiatives are intended to serve the Maliki school of jurisprudence, strengthen its presence across the Maghreb region, and safeguard its rich scholarly heritage.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties emphasized the critical importance of sustaining this collaboration and institutionalizing it in the near future through memorandums of understanding (MoUs) and bilateral agreements. These forthcoming steps aim to fulfill the scientific and cognitive objectives of both centers while supporting the broader advancement of scientific research across the Islamic world.

To mark the end of the visit, a curated collection of the Sheikh Tahir Al-Zawi Center’s publications was presented to Professor Dr. Al-Bashir Abdellaoui. This gesture served as a token of appreciation for the center’s esteemed scientific status and role, reaffirming the profound significance of scholarly engagement and communication between premier research institutions.
