Peer-reviewed scientific journals: between research methodologies and evaluation criteria
The Al-Shaikh Al-Tahir Al-Zawi Center for Research and Manuscript Studies , in cooperation with the Faculty of Law at the University of Tripoli, organized its first scientific symposium entitled: “Peer-Reviewed Scientific Journals: Between Research Methodologies and Evaluation Criteria,” under the slogan: “Towards Elevating Peer-Reviewed Scientific Journals in Libya.” The symposium was held at the Bab Al-Bahr Hotel in Tripoli on Wednesday, February 27, 2019, at 9:00 AM.
Peer-reviewed scientific journals are considered among the most important pillars of scientific and intellectual life, and an indicator of the research level reached by academic institutions (universities, institutes, and research centers) in the country, given that the research published in them is mostly the work of faculty members and researchers.
We at the Sheikh Taher Al-Zawi Center for Studies, Research, and Heritage Preservation, having published the first issue of the Sheikh Taher Al-Zawi Journal of Studies and Research in December 2017 and the second in June 2018, hope that this journal, and other peer-reviewed academic journals in Libya, will provide a platform for publishing serious and rigorous research that adheres to established research methodologies and the principles of scholarly writing. This will be achieved through the publication requirements and evaluation criteria that are established.
The Problem Addressed by the Symposium:
This symposium addressed the problem of the evident decline in the quality of publications in many journals, which has led to a reduction in their scholarly value and influence within their respective fields.
